This exhibit focuses on the life of Leora Stroup, an amazing woman who was brought in by FHSU to start the first nursing program at the University. She is who Stroup Hall is named after.

Through the course of this class, participants will make a pattern from clay and learn how to
make a two-part sand mold using a non-toxic binder, prepare for an iron pour, break iron, learn how to
prepare a cupola furnace AND participate in an iron pour (the night of the Spring Art Walk on April
28) as well as well as learning how to finish and patina your piece (the morning of April 29 in
conjunction with the pour clean up). Your supplies (sodium silicate, sand, propane, glue sticks &
guns, cardboard, planks, modeling clay, iron, coke) are ALL included in this workshop fee. THIS is
gonna be fun!!!! **for this class, it is very important that participants attend every meeting, so be
sure to clear your calendar on these dates. . . including the Art Walk night and next morning!
